Crimean Tatar Youth Center (CTYC)
Brief activity review.

The СTYC is a public youth NGO. It was founded under the I Crimean Tatar youth congress on May 14th, 1995 and it was registered by the Chief Justice Management of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine in the Crimea. The CTYC realizes its activity within the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea.
The main objectives of the CTYC are: to bring the Crimean Tatar youth together with the view to developing and revealing intellectual, spiritual and cultural potential of the nation; protect the legal rights and interests of young people; revive and develop the ethnic culture, sport activity, traditions and customs; inculcate affection to the nature; put up the links with other youth organizations and participate in the activities concerning the reinforcement of the interethnic relations and concord of as the Crimean youth as well as Ukrainian.
In the course of the CTYC activity the educational, environmental, entertaining, social, cultural and other measures have been hold as such:
- Actions aimed at the greening of the peninsular under the title “Eshil Ada” (Green Island) (more than 800 trees and bushes have been planted);
- Improvement of the life standards for those people living in the Crimean Tatar settlements;
- Establishment of the international links with the youth organizations all over the world. CTYC is the member of the International Unity of Turkish Youth (IUTY); the Working Group on Preventing and settling of the conflicts within the CIS; close relations with International Republican Institute.
- Collaboration with the Ukrainian youth organizations: we are the members of “ Political Education Center”, “Young Movement”, Ukrainian student union, Union of the Ukrainian youth, young civil servants union, “young solidarity”, Ukrainian national committee of youth organizations, “Compos” club and etc.
- Creation of the programs “Yani Nesil” which includes different clubs such as “Ihtisadiat”, Biyaz Karga”, Din Ve Urf Adetlerimiz”, “Akil”. Each of these clubs enables young people to gain skills and make deeper their knowledge in various domains.
The youngsters who are keen in gaining the knowledge in accounting attend the “Ihtisadiat” club. The major part of the attendants is students who study economics.
The “Akil” club is attended by the youngsters who are fond of the intellectual development.
The “Din Ve Urf Adetlerimiz” club implies learning of the history, traditions of the Crimean Tatars and also the studying of the Crimean Tatar, Arabic and Turkish languages and also the Islam. The club has the rich library.
The chess tournament “Kalga Sultan” is held annually. Once a week there are brain games and entertaining programs for youth and meetings with the famous people who are the artists, actors, politicians, sportsmen, national movement representatives.
The members of the CTYC have worked out and implemented the project “Cooperation Ways of the Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar Youth Organizations”. This project has been funded by the Foundation “National Endowment for Democracy”.
We have and enlarge the database about the orphans, handicaps, children from the neediest families and find the ways of assistance. We have already arranged the sanatorium vocations for over 1000 children as in the Crimea as well in Tatarstan. The CTYC and “The Crimea” Foundation conducted a charitable action for children who suffered from military actions in the Russian Federation, 102 children were under the rehabilitation and adaptation program which implied the staying in the Crimean Tatar families for a month and 34 of them for a year.
We keep in touch with the State Committee on family and youth issues of the ARC and State Committee on youth sport and tourism affairs of Ukraine. We took part in elaboration of the program on social improvement, adaptation and integration of the youth into the Ukrainian community, which was adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on January, 2002.
The CTYC participated actively in establishing the Belogorsk business- center which is funded by the UNDP Crimea and also we closely cooperate with the Peace Corps.
The CTYC implements the educational sessions aimed at the political awareness of the grass-roots such as: “Classes for the Members of the Poll Stations and Observers for the year 2002”, “Youth and Elections”, “Youth and Politics”, “Civil Society”, “Seminars for the Young Deputies” and etc.
The CTYC is involved in the support of the democracy in Ukraine and protection of the Crimean Tatar rights. This actions are “Forum on Promotion of the Constitution of Ukraine”, “Civil Hearings” and etc. We are going to foster the democracy development within the ARC, Ukraine and Eastern Europe.
We aim to cooperate with the youth organizations in Europe, the USA and all over the world.
